About Me:
Parent, Volunteer, Engineer
Hi! I'm so glad you're here. My name is Amy Becker and I'm running to become a member of the District 41 School Board.
I am a mom to two wonderful children. My husband and I have two amazing daughters. My oldest is in 2nd grade at Forest Glen. We love Forest Glen and she's learned lots and made tons of wonderful memories. My youngest will be entering Kindergarten in the fall. We are excited (and a little nervous) to be part of the inaugural class of the new Kindergarten Center.
I have been lucky to be a part of the Glen Ellyn Community and have met many wonderful people through volunteering. Upon moving to Glen Ellyn 9 years ago, I got involved with the Glen Ellyn Newcomers and Neighbors club and have held many volunteer positions with them throughout the years. I have volunteered with St. Mark's in their nursery, Sunday School program, gardening group, and, most recently, their worship commission. I am also a director in the D41 Kids Foundation helping kids get signed up for free books through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program.
I am also a licensed professional engineer. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign. I have over a decade of experience in Infrastructure design and construction. I've worked on projects ranging from a few new outlets in an office to the redesign of an electrical substation and everywhere in between.
